Betty Joyce "Mamaw" Brainard, age 70, of Smyrna, passed away the afternoon of Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Joyce was born in Sunbright, TN to Pearl Christeen and Oscar Thomas Phipps. She is survived by her husband, Bill Brainard; daughters, Kristy Welchance & Angela Crain; Step daughter Natalie Gibson; Step son, Scott & Bennie Brainard; sisters, Freddie Goad, Sue Knight, Jenny Simmons and Jenell Cherry; grandchildren, Stephanie Welchance, Nicole Welchance, Kaitlyn Hardy, Alyssa Crain; great grandchildren, Issac and Lucas; and also by her faithful and loving dog, BooBoo. Services to celebrate Joyce will be at Three O'clock the afternoon of Friday April 1, 2016 at Roselawn Funeral Home with Lenny Farmer offiiciating. Placement will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Steven Crain, Terry Carver, Jr., Colt Carver, Zach Mahoney, Kenny Knight and Timmy Knight. Joyce was a former group leader at Honeywell (Heatcraft).
