Attis Joe "Buttermilk" Bernard of Thomas Ridge Spur, Dunnville, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. He was 76. Born in Casey County on Nov. 17, 1931, he was a son of the late Stanley and Cordie Holt Bernard. He was a truck driver and mechanic for Tarter Gate and a member of the 910 Full Gospel Church. Survivors include his wife, Opal Roy Bernard of Dunnville; a son, Johnny Joe (and Regina) Bernard of Russell Springs; mother-in-law, Lorene Chapman of Liberty; two grandsons, John Lewis and Michael Bernard; two granddaughters, Nancy (and Larry) Foster and Ashley Bernard; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Joe Luster; and three brothers, Arvis, Avery, and Gene Bernard, all of Dunnville. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Darrell Bernard. Funeral services were March 13 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Bro. Clifford DeHart. Burial was in Thomas Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brent Bernard, Greg Bernard, Billy Roy, Danny Absher, Lynn Baldock and Larry Foster.
