He was born on December 20, 1924, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Charlie and Lennie Walters Gordon.
He was united in marriage to Grace E. Wiedeman on May 17, 1947, and to this union four children were born.
Pete was a member of the South Thornton Church of Christ in Piggott, Arkansas, and served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, that jumped into Normandy on D-Day.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace E. Gordon; son, John Richard Gordon; brother, Charles Earl "Bud" Gordon; and sister, Laverne Haley.
Survivors include his children: Phillip E. Gordon and wife Peggy of Paragould, Arkansas, Joe Robert Gordon and wife Sharon of Bay, Arkansas, and Tammy Gordon of Piggott, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Arvalla Gordon of Piggott, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 31, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Duane Dutka officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
