Henry Wilson Boss was born 21 Aug 1809 in Wilkes Co., GA to Christopher and Esther (Phoenis) Boss, both natives of Augusta Co., VA. By 1830, H. W. Boss was in Walton Co., GA. There, on 12 Dec 1833, he married Lucinda Whitlow. She was the daughter of Bolden and Eliz. (Stewart) Whitlow of Halifax Co., VA and Walton Co., GA. About 1836-7, Henry and Lucinda Boss moved to McLemore's Cove, Walker Co. GA, along with Bolden Whitlow's family and all of his sons-in-law: James M. Bonds, Archibald Bonds, Wm I. Mathis, Avery Camp, Wm "Buck" Bailey, & Miles Washington Whitlow. Henry Boss' parents also removed to Walker Co., GA.
Henry Boss established himself on a fertile tract of land near his kinfolk in the Cove, raised a large family and farmed all of his life. When his country called, he served in E Co., 6th Georgia Cavalry, Confederate States Army.
His wife Lucinda died abt 1846 and he remarried to Susannah Childress. She died 1889 and is buried next to Henry W. Boss in Morgan Cemetery.
