A native of Waynesville, Mr. Conard had resided in Buncombe County since 1948. He was the former owner of James Conard Grading, and was a US Army veteran.
Mr. Conard was the son of the late Arthur Allen and Rosa Bell Medley Conard. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Claude Allison and J.D. Conard.
Surviving are his wife, Cristina D. Conard, whom he married August 10, 1957; children: Jimmy Conard and Maria Conard, both of Asheville; grandchildren: Laurie Honeycutt and Scot, Cristina Anelli, Lee Conard and Renato Anelli; great-grandchildren: Payton Honeycutt, Sydney Honeycutt, Demetris Anelli, Valentino Anelli, and Isabella Anelli; sister, Hattie Ramsey; brothers: Bobby, Cliff, Howard and Johnny Conard; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park.
