A Memorial Service for Ruby N. Rylance, 97, of Watertown, SD, will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, with Pastor Rhia Strohm officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park in Aberdeen. Ruby died Monday, August 1, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Watertown, SD.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials.

Ruby was born August 4, 1918, in Roseau County, Minnesota, to Anton and Anna (Braaten) Anderson. She was baptized into the Christian Faith on December 22, 1918, at home at Conrad (Roseau County), MN, and confirmed into Christian Faith Affirmation of Baptism on June 26, 1932, at English Lutheran Church at Roseau, MN.

She attended high school in Roseau and Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND. She was a bookkeeper at Woolworth's and worked in Al's Bakery, which she and her husband Al owned in Aberdeen. Al preceded her in death in 1985.

Ruby Anderson and Allan Howard Rylance were united in marriage on May 28, 1938, at United Lutheran, Grand Forks, ND. To this union, five children were born: Katherine, Robert, Raymond, John, and Richard.

She was a member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Aberdeen since 1952, where she was active in Altar Guild and choir. She was a long-time member of the Daughters of Nile, and enjoyed playing bridge, reading, doing counted cross-stitch, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Robert (Mary)
Rylance of Eden Prairie, MN; Raymond (Roberta) Rylance of Watertown, SD; John (Jill) Rylance of Buffalo, MN; and Rick (Rhonda) Rylance of Rapid City, SD; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and a brother, Donald (Ginny) Anderson of Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Al; her daughter Kathy; one grandson, Don Wilson; twin great grandsons, Luke and Tyler Heins; one great granddaughter, Sydney Heins; and a brother, Arthur Anderson.
