Grace Julia Kjoberg Rose, 95, of Cloquet died Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Lighthouse Assisted Living.

She was born June 11, 1918 in Brookston to Matti and Hilda Niemi.

Grace married Melvin Kjoberg and they made their home in Seattle for about a year before returning to the farm in Brookston. After they sold the farm in 1950, they moved to Cloquet. Grace worked at the Cloquet Coop Store during the 1950’s and 1960’s. After her husband died in 1972, Grace moved to Chisholm for a short time.

Here she met and married Dan Rose and they made their home on Kelly Lake. After Dan’s death, Grace returned to Chisholm and then in 2001 she moved to Cloquet. While in Cloquet, Grace was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

In addition to her husbands, Grace was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Kjoberg; and eight siblings, Olga Lahti, Ina Kellman, Tyne Niemi, Toivo, Ilmer, Elmer, Marvin, and Matt Niemi.

She is survived by two daughters, Isabelle (Mike) Smith and Kathleen Jenski both of Cloquet; one son, David (Diane) Kjoberg of Superior; one sister, Mae Abramowski; eleven grandchildren, Dan, Randy, Wayne, Nicole, Sarah, Annette, David, Paul, Kevin, Tim, and Jennifer; and 21 great grandchildren.

Memorial Services were held on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet.
