Civil war Soldier of the 25th Virginia Infantry 2nd Company H and 39th Battalion Company C, Virginia Cavalry. Captured at the Wilderness Campaign 5 May 1864, confined at Belle Plain, VA, sent to Point Lookout, MD, 17 May 1864, then transferred to Elmira Prison 10 Aug 1864. He was paroled and exchanged for prisoners 11 Oct 1864 and exchanged in Savannah, GA, 13 Nov 1864. 24-265 Nov 1864 he was admitted to Richmond Hospital and Paroled and sent home 25 May 1865.
