Lucille Lillian Markle was born on November 28, 1918 the eighth child of 11 to Charles and Maude (Stukey) Markle in Barren, Missouri. As an infant, her family made their home on a farm near Canton, SD. It was in Canton where Lucille was raised and received her education.

Lucille was united in marriage with Arnold Kenneth Eliason on July 2, 1938 in Canton, SD. Lucille and Arnold made their home in Sioux Falls and were blessed with five children. Lucille loved raising children and played a large role in the raising of her extended family.

Lucille became a member of East Side Lutheran Church in 1938 and served on many committees. She was also a very active member of the Women of The Moose Lodge.

Lucille enjoyed traveling and was able to visit every state except Alaska, playing card games; especially 500, dancing, eating Lutefisk and having coffee with the neighbors. Lucille also enjoyed canning, and considered herself the "Produce Manager" of Arnold's very large garden. She loved eating the produce from the garden, especially the tomatoes she and Arnold grew. Above all she loved spending time with her family. She played an instrumental part and looked forward to the yearly Markle family reunions.

Grateful for having shared her life are two sons: Paul (Becky) Eliason, Sioux Falls, SD and Rev. Mark (Dr. Sharon Fix) Eliason, Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters: Carol (Don) Roozenboom, Montevideo, MN and Dr. Susan Eliason, Rapid City, SD; daughter in law: Judi Eliason, Sioux Falls, SD; 11 grandchildren: Jeff Eliason, Randy (Dr. Heidi Hillhouse) Eliason, Brian Eliason, Michelle (Brian) Siegrist, Steve (Tammy) Roozenboom, Karen Roozenboom, Will (Shana) Roozenboom, Kevin Eliason, Dustin Eliason, Brandon Eliason, and Jessica Decker; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Bresee, Sioux Falls, SD, and Betty (Howard) Severson, Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Arlene Markle, Canton, SD; special great-nephew, Mark (Teresa) Law, Sheridan WY; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Maude Markle; husband, Arnold Eliason; son, David Eliason; siblings, Gertrude McFarlane, Guy Markle, Mable Eidshiem, Dorothy Eliason, Cecil Markle, Hazel Aashiem, Lura Jones and Donald Markle.
