Mary Stecklein, 99, Hays, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at her home. She was born Jan. 1, 1917, in Victoria to Joseph and Anna (Graf) Wasinger.

She married Alex Stecklein on Feb. 6, 1934, in Victoria. They celebrated nearly 70 years of marriage before he preceded her in death June 24, 2003.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking, was neat and religious, enjoyed dances and polkas with her husband.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Stecklein, San Mateo, Calif.; a daughter, Jeanie Baker and husband, Ken, Pinellas Park, Fla.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Marie Donahue and husband, Patrick Donahue; two grandsons, Dean Michael Jacobs and Michael Donahue; seven sisters; and three brothers.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
