Jesse Cuthbert Chavez, Jr. 75, of Saint Joseph, MO passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care. He was born March 20, 1941 in Fromberg, MT, son of Esperanza "Hope" and Jesse Chavez, Sr. He graduated from Christian Brothers in 1960. He married Lois Bertelsen on February 14, 1988. He worked at Wire Rope. He loved his faith, his family and his grandchildren. He was very hardworking and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church. Jesse was preceded in death by his father, step-father, Gus Martinez, and brother, John Chavez. Survivors include wife, Lois Ilene Chavez of Saint Joseph, MO, mother, Esperanza "Hope" Chavez Martinez of St. Joseph, MO, three daughters, Sherri (Billy) Jackson of Hemple, MO, Jennifer (Kevin) Yardley and Julia Chavez all of Grain Valley, MO, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren,three brothers, Daniel (Pam) Chavez of Gardner, KS, Larry (Linda) Chavez of Kansas City, KS, Thomas (Marolyn) Chavez of St. Joseph, MO, five sisters, Dolores (Walt) Meyers of Kansas City, MO, Margaret Ann (Ladd) Imm of Smithville, MO, Ramona (Bill) Atkinson of St. Joseph, MO, Mary (Steve) Merritt of Amazonia, MO, Frances (Craig) Wahlert of St. Joseph, MO, many nieces, nephews, and cousins,.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 8, 2016, at 10:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church, Fr. Bill Walter Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm, Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery
