Obituary: Evening News, Jeffersonville, Indiana, Saturday, 19 November 1966, reads: Durham Rites Set Sunday; Mrs. Jesse Durham, 66, of Carwood, was dead on arrival at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. The former Alpha Stitt, she was a native of Washington County and was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church at Pekin. Surviving are three sons, Jesse Durham, Floyd County, Frank Durham, Indianapolis, and Marion L. Durham, Butlerville; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Alexander, Lakeland, Fla., Mrs. Thelma O’Shaughnessy, Chicago, and Mrs. Beverly French, Bennettsville; and 13 grandchildren. Friends may call at the Paul V. Shrader Funeral Home, New Albany, until noon Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Daisy Hill Evangelical United Brethern Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
