Betty was educated in Traverse City schools, and in 1957 graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. In 1981, she obtained her Master of Science in mental health nursing from her beloved U of M.
She had many accomplishments, among them being the head nurse of the psychiatry department at the U of M Medical Center and staff associate in charge of construction planning for the Mott, Women's, Holden and Psychiatric Hospitals at U of M.
She is survived by her mother, Opal V. Beall of Traverse City; daughter, Cynthia (Mark) Symonik of Ypsilanti; sons, Michael S. Kelsch of Ypsilanti and Robert D. Kelsch of Canton; and brothers, John E. (Sandra) Beall, Robert C. (Ann) Beall and James R. Beall. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, John W. Kelsch; and father, John G. Beall.
A memorial service was held in her honor in the home of her life-long friend, Linda Powell of Ann Arbor.
