Per his death certificate found on Ancestry.com (which is very faded and difficult to read, the following interpretation may be incorrect): his parents names are too faded to read, however, his mother's maiden name appears to say Herndon. He was the husband of Mrs. Elvira Bowen Moorhead. He was a retired merchant. He resided at 200 Pickens St. and died at Columbia Hospital of pneumonia-after fracture of hip (unreadable). The informant's name if too faded to read.

Found in The State 29 October 1936: Funeral services for James Edmund Moorhead, 75, who died at the Columbia hospital Tuesday morning, were conducted at 11 o'clock yesterday from the residence, 200 Pickens street, by the Rev. John H. Webb, pastor of the First Baptist church, and the Rev. A. B. Kennedy, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist church. Mr. Moorhead was a resident of Columbia for the past 48 years and was a member of the First Baptist church. He fell and fractured his hip about a week before his death. A native of Walhalla, he had made many friends in Columbia during his long residence who will join with his family in mourning his passing. He had served many terms as city councilman and was for a number of yeas a deacon of the First Baptist church.
