Born on April 17, 1934 in Meadows, MD, he was the son of the late Richard Russell and Margaret Randall Thorne. He has resided in St. Mary's for six years. He graduated from Frederick Sasscer High School in 1952. He was a Master Plumber for Plumbers Union #5. He retired in 1996 from Jowett Inc. where he worked for 42 years. He also was very active in Forestville Volunteer Fire Dept. for 57 years. He was Chief for 28 years. He was Division Chief in Prince George's County and served on many county and state related Fire Associations Committees.
Survived by his wife, Joyce A. Windsor Thorne, sons and spouses, Paul and Jule Thorne of Charlotte Hall, MD, Jeff and Kellie Thorne of Helen, MD, sisters, Ruth Alvey of Golden Beach, Martha Schuman of Kentucky, and Elsie Sayler of Frederick, MD, brothers, Sonny Thorne of Forestville, MD, Jim Thorne of Charlotte Hall, MD, and John Thorne of Baltimore, MD. Four grandchildren, Breanna, Russell, Jacob, and Daniel also survive him.
