General Sir George Macauley Kirkpatrick KCB, KCSI
1900 South Africa, took part in the Relief of Kimberley (11-15 February 1900) and acting as Chief Intelligence Officer, Orange River Colony where the peace terms were settled.

Served as Major In Canada 1903-4,Surveyed the US/Canada Border from the American side to establish suitable areas where horse dependant forces could operate and graze in the event that an incursion from Canada into America would be necessary. To carry out this task he went by boat south from Halifax to Boston in plain clothes and travelled west by horse.

He joined Lord Kitchener's staff in India and travelled with Kitchener to Australia and New Zealand

Served as Colonel in Melbourne 1910-1914 as Inspector General and assisted with the establishment of the Australian Military Academy (equivalent of Sandhurst) in Canberra.

Back in India via postings in Simla and New Delhi as Major General he became Chief of General Staff in India in 1916.

From there to Hong Kong as General Commanding Officer British Forces in China and Military Attache 1920-3.

Served as C-in-C (General) North Western India 1923-6.

Back in England he led the Royal Engineers past His Majesty King George V in his Jubilee Review at Aldershot 1935.

He retired in 1939. Moving to Toronto for WWII he returned to England in 1945 setting in Roehampton.
