Los Altos - Roger Tecumpseh Sherman, a financial advisor to Herbert Hoover's Belgian Relief Committee during WWI, died Sunday at the age of 80. He was a grand nephew of the Civil War General, William Tecumpseh Sherman. Until retiring in 1953, Sherman was President of the First National Bank of Mountain View.

Roger Sherman founded the First National Bank of Yreka in 1911, then headed the First National Bank of Mountain View in 1925 and remained as its president until it merged with United California Bank in 1953.
He was survived by his wife, Claudine; a daughter, Mrs. John Mack of San Mateo ; a sister, Laura Gray of Salt Lake City and four grandchildren.
