Jerry Candler was born December 20, 1940 to Lynn and Jeannie (Pearce) Candler in Ballinger, Texas. He graduated from Ballinger High School in 1959 and was a four year letterman for the Bearcat football team. After graduating from BHS, he attended Rice University on a football scholarship. He was a three year letterman and played in the Sugar Bowl in January 1961 and the Bluebonnet Bowl in December 1961. He graduated from Rice in 1963. Jerry married Jean “Sistie” Edens from Talpa on June 22, 1962 in Houston, Texas. They shared fifty-four loving years together. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Arlington.
Jerry is survived by his wife, four children and their spouses, and five grandchildren.
