Betty Louise Raithel, age 87, of Nixa, formerly a longtime resident of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Nixa Nursing and Rehab in Nixa, Missouri. She was born September 12, 1928, in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of the late Herman and Ellen (Herron) Anderson. On January 19, 1999, in Miami, Oklahoma, she was united in marriage to Cornelius “Carney” Raithel, who preceded her in death on September 7, 2012. For five years, Betty was employed at the Department of Social Services in Morgan County. She was an active member of the Versailles Westminster Presbyterian Church where she served as deaconess. Betty enjoyed dancing and playing card games, especially bridge. She is survived by her son, Tom Whitney and wife Stephanie of Nixa, Missouri; daughter, Susan Miesner and husband Larry of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tina Grant and a grandson, Tim Miesner. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 16th, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Versailles with Pastor Rudy Beard officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles
