Grace Melissa Brizzee
Daughter of Henry Willard Brizzee Jr. and Esther Ann Catlin (Brizzee)
Wife of Ernest Hampton White
Mother of Edna Grace White, Ernest Leslie White, Louise Lena White, Richard Frederick White, Alice Adeline White, and infant male White.

From the copy of a letter I have in my possession from Grace to her parents dated June 6, 1922, Bisbee/Lowell Arizona.

**My Dear Mother and Father,
Since I am unable to talk to anybody I have at last found a chance to answer your letter, which came a long time ago. I have had such a cold for the last week I cannot speak above a whisper. It takes all my strength to make myself heard. I have been taking so much dope I think the hoarseness is getting better and I'll be alright in a few days. Otherwise, we are all well and hope you dear ones are the same.
Before school closed I hardly had a moment to myself as we had so much garden in and so much hoeing and irrigating to do. Now we are kept busy fixing our field for our rain crop.
One of our cows, a young heifer, not quite 2 years, (Well, to tell the truth she was born on Ernest, Jr.'s birthday the 15th, so he fell heir to her), Well, she had her first calf last week. She is a good milker for a heifer and the first calf. The other two cows will be fresh any day now, not more than a week.
Ernest is still working in the mine. I had hoped he would be at home to stay by now, but it seems we can't live without the mine.
How is Papa's rheumatism now? It was about this time last year he was over to see us. I would like to hope you could both come this year, but know it is a lot of expense when there is not a steady income.
We would like to come there, but it is impossible now.
All the children did good in school this year, they all got promoted. Richard from 1st to 2nd, Louise from 3rd to 4th, Ernest 4th to 5th, Edna 7th to 8th. Their teacher was Miss Blanche Allen from Gilbert, near Mesa. Maybe you know her folks. She is related to Phelps' of Mesa.
The kids are out swimming in the pond, but Edna is crocheting under the trees.
Say, it is warm here today. I am wondering how hot it is up there where you are. Plenty, I guess.
We have about 135 chickens large and small. I will soon be selling our fryers, also tomatoes and other vegetables at the market. The garden always brings in a nice little wad, besides what we can. We would have been earlier, but have been short of water.
Well, I guess I have written all the ranch news you care to hear and perhaps more, so I will ringoff. Hoping to hear from you soon.

I remain lovingly,
Grace.
