Glenn Owen Ash, 75, St. Lawrence, died Aug. 13 at 11:10 p.m. in Beverly Manor, Exeter Township.
He was the husband of Barbara E. (Frederick) Ash.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Walter H. and Grace (Keough) Wanner, and was adopted by the late Paul E. and Emma (Wanner) Ash.
Ash served in the Navy for 10 years and was a Korean War veteran. He was then employed for 13 years as a custodian at Mount Penn Elementary School until his retirement.
He was a member of the Community of Christ United Church, St. Lawrence.
Ash was a 1949 graduate of Mount Penn High School.
He was a member of the Washington Camp 230, POS of A.
Ash was very active with the foster grandparent program associated with the Berks County Office on Aging, Reading, where he earned the President's Volunteer Service Award in 2002.
He is also survived by a son, Frederick P. Ash, Nevada City, Calif.; and a daughter Marie E. (Ash) Ellerby-Lohr, Zeltingen-Rachtig, Germany.
Other survivors include a half-sister, Diane (Wanner) Mueller, Telford.
There are also three grandchildren: Justin and Benjamin Ellerby and Lauren Ash.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Community UCC. Viewing will be Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church 3330 St. Lawrence Ave., Reading, PA 19606. Burial will be private in Schwartzwald Cemetery, Jacksonwald. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community UCC Memorial Fund at the above address or to the American Heart Association, 25 Steven Ave, West Lawn, PA 19609. Lutz Funeral Home Inc., Mount Penn, is in charge of arrangements.
