He was born May 16, 1928 in Parkersburg. The son of George H. Johnson, Sr. and Etta (Rieken) Johnson. George graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1946.
George married Eileen L. Holdiman on March 6, 1953 in Waterloo.
He farmed in Parkersburg until 1953; he then worked at John Deere PEC for 28 years, retiring in 1982; after retirement, he began Johnson Small Engine Repair. George was a former member of the Waterloo Masonic Lodge No. 105 and UAW 838.
Survivors include: wife, Eileen Johnson of Waterloo, IA; daughter, Kay Johnson of Waterloo, IA; two sons, Steve (Deb) Johnson of Waterloo, IA and Doran (Jolon) Johnson of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren: Heather, Jennifer, Melissa, Matthew, Jordan and Jaylee; seven great‑grandchildren: Madison, Lexie, Isabella, Tanner, Lilly, Brynlee and Charleigh; and sister, Sophia Christensen of Humboldt, IA.
Preceded in death by: Parents; four brothers, Edward, Clarence, Harold, Richard; three sisters, Henrietta, Anna, and Johanna.
