He was the son of Antoine and Gabrielle Van Autreve. On Jun 1, 1946, he married Augusta Fuerst, who survives in Delphos.
Also surviving are three children: Mike (Patti) Van Autreve, Dayton, and Toni Van Autreve and Tom (Cyndy) Van Autreve, both Atlanta, GA; and six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A 1939 graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School*, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. at the age of 19. He served four years as a marine during WWII and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima and was always very proud of being a marine. After returning from serving our country and marrying the love of his life, he became an award winning North American moving agent as well as the proud owner of the Busy Bee Rental and Hardware. He was an active member of the Kiwanis club, VFW #3035, and the Knights of Columbus #1362, 4th degree, Sir Knight for 51 years. He was a true family man and took pride and pleasure in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Rev. Dennis Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, with military grave rites by the Delphos Veterans Council.
