William Arthur "Art" Cary, 74, died at 10:45 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at his home.
He was born March 14, 1942 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Kenneth Eugene Cary and Leona Mae (McKee) Cary.

Art served from 1962-1985 in the United States Army retiring as a First Sergeant in February of 1985. He served two tours in the Korean War and one tour in Germany. After retirement Art worked at Whistler Glass Company in Independence for several years.

He loved to drive his Dune Buggy around Dennis and give the local children rides. Art enjoyed going to Ramey's Bar and Grill and visiting with his friends. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks and American Legion.

Survivors include his sons – David Arthur Cary and Stuart Dwayne Cary, daughter, Cynthia Prunty, sister, Marcia Ruth Boutwell of Tulsa, Oklahoma and many friends in Dennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Margaret Jean Skyles and his fiancé Edna J. "Jackie" Purcell.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at North Edna Cemetery. Military Honors will be given by the Brown-Bishop Post No 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Art's wishes are that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans and can be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, Kansas 67357.
