Louis J. Bruns, 82, retired farmer, died March 11 at Memorial Hospital.
Rev. Robert Carlson officated at the Tuesday, 2 p.m. funeral service at St. John's Lutheran Church. Betty Herde, organist, accomplanied the congregation singing "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Rock of Ages". A 7:30 p.m. prayer service was held Monday evening at Svoboda Funeral Home. Burial was in Schuyler Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Guy Keller, Raymond Kluck, Dennis Bruns, Edwin and Leonard Sayers and Fern C. Lewis.
The son of Garhart and Louis Demhlow Bruns, he was born Sept. 27, 1896 in Leigh. His education was received in Leigh Public and Colfax County Rural Schools.
On Feb. 25, 1919 he married Mae Purchase in Schuyler. Following their marriage they farmed in Colfax County until their retirement in 1947 when they moved to Schuyler. Mr. Bruns was a partner in a produce station from 1948 until 1963.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, (Weta) Mrs. Ed Motycka, Leigh, (Ruby) Mrs. Mel Fendrick, Schuyler, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
One brother and infant sister and a grandson preceeded him in death
