HERMON – Derek Armstrong, 31, died unexpectedly Sept. 30, 2012 at home. Derek was born May 25, 1981, at Millinocket Regional Hospital.

Derek graduated from Hermon High School, class of 1999. He was employed by K&L Demo Transport of Skowhegan for 10 years and thought of his employer and co-workers like family. During his career he drove over a million miles and loved every minute of it. Derek married the love of his life, Shauna (McBreairty) Armstrong, June 18, 2011 and this is a day that she will never forget.

In addition to his wife, Shauna, Derek leaves behind a son, Craig Armstrong. He is also survived by his parents, Hale and Rella Armstrong of Levant; grandmother, Janet Armstrong of Millinocket; family and many close friends.

A memorial will be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Fire Station, 3917 Union St., Levant. After the memorial there will be a race at 3 p.m. dedicated to his memory at Speedway 95, Hermon.
