~While Bangs Family in America (1896) asserts that Sarah was born with the surname Bangs (the ultimate published source of this was probably Pelletreau's History of Putnam County, New York [1886]), the Bible record of her grandson Oliver Penny has her maiden name as Parish, and that the latter source is by its nature more reliable.~ Many thanks to Gene Zubrinsky for this information.
