Perry was the son of Benjamin Franklin Borders and Jane A McCoy. He married Anna Phylbric on Aug 8, 1886 at Sac City, Iowa. They were the parents of 4 children: Harley Alonzo (June 16, 1889), Luverne (1891), Ilma (1896), and . Lon was a real estate agent.

Lon and Ann were in poor health before 1937 and lived with the Tom Ellis family. In Oct 1937 they moved from the Alpha Rungee home to the Bill Plum home.

Jefferson Bee - Tuesday, December 31, 1940 - Perry Alonzo, son of Benjamin and Jane Borders, was born in Calhoun county, Iowa, on April 5th, 1859, and passed away at his home in Scranton, Iowa, December 28th, 1940, at the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 20 days.

He was united in marriage to Anna Philbric in Sac City, August 8, 1886. To this union four children were born, one of whom, of Oregon, survives.

Mr. and Mrs. Borders came to Scranton about 38 years ago and have lived in and about Scranton ever since.

The deceased survived by his wife, and two brothers, Matt of LeBan, Wash., Frank of Brainard, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Elnora Basler of Iowa, and Mrs. Jessie Willhuse of Los Angeles, Calif, also other relatives.

The funeral service was conducted from the Huffman funeral home in Scranton on Sunday, Dec 29, at 2:00, by the Rev. L. Stone, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment was in Grant City, Iowa. Pallbearers were Charles ?, John Stroud, Arley Jansson, Art Johnson, John MacDonald, Frank Faron. Music was furnished by Mrs. B.E. Parry, Miss Hazel Gray with Lucille Rutan at the piano.
