She was a native of Johnson City and was a daughter of the late Roy and Mary Bowman Ayers. Mrs. Oaks was a member of the BuffaloValley Freewill Baptist Church in Unicoi. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Oaks enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved her church and church family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Oaks in 2011; two sisters, Joan Ayers and Jewell Fender; three brothers, James, Fred and Rob Ayers. Survivors include two sons, Randy K. Oaks and his wife, Lisa of Johnson City and Conley V. Oaks of Unicoi; a brother, James Ayers and his wife, Linda of Unicoi; a sister, Kathy Clark and her husband, Teddy of Jonesborough; a sister-in-law, Ann Stewart of Jonesborough; her grandchildren, Nakecia and Kendall Oaks and a special grandson, Willie Vance; a special friend, Sue Brown of Blountville; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Oaks will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in the BuffaloValleyFreewillBaptistChurch, Honeycutt Road, Unicoi with Rev. Donnie Harris, Rev. Steve Bennett and Rev. Freddie Bennett officiating. Special music will be provided by the church singers. Interment will follow in the WashingtonCountyMemoryGardens. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends. The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
