Delores M. Copus, age 84, of 1710 Meadowbrook Drive, Manitowoc, died on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Delores was born March 25, 1926, in LaCrescent, Minn., daughter of the late William and Ernestine (Peters) Groothoff. On Nov. 21, 1945, she married Bernard Copus, Sr. in Wisconsin Dells. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1997. Delores worked at a powder plant in LaCrosse during the war. The couple moved to Manitowoc County in 1963, and had a dairy farm. She was also employed at Mirro until her retirement. Delores loved gardening and sewing.
Survivors include six daughters and one son-in-law: Sue Leach, Menasha, Sheila Kosobucki, Christine Copus (Steve Stoltzman), both of Two Rivers, Bernadine and Brian Zenke, Manitowoc, Laura Copus (Roger Raether), Whitelaw, Peggy and Dan Garst, Iowa; three sons and one daughter-in-law: Larry and Betty Copus, Beloit, Daniel Copus and Ann Burns, Two Rivers, Scott Copus, Manitowoc; 37 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; one cousin: Pearl Miller. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother-in-law and father-in-law; four children: Lois Ann, Francis, and Jimmy Copus, and Bonnie Junk; two infant grandsons; three brothers;, one sister; three sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; two sons-in-law: Frank Leach and Francis Kosobucki Sr.; one daughter-in-law: Lisa Copus; and childhood best friend, Grace Rockwell.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m, Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Chaplain Robin Therese. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Hwy 310, town of Kossuth.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers.
