Howard John "Jack" Adams, 70, of East Genesee Street died Friday at his home.

A life resident of the Auburn area, he owned and operated the Adams Travel Agency and Skaneateles Travel Bureau from 1972 to 1987.

Mr. Adams enlisted in the Army Air Forces and was selected for Officer Candidate School. He served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. While in the Air Force, he graduated from the Air University, served as an instructor at the U.S. War College and was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Ecuador. He retired from the Air Force in 1965 as lieutenant colonel.

He was a member of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, A.S.T.A., Rotary Club, Masons, Elks Lodge 474 B.P.O.E., and VFW.

Survived by his wife of 50 years, Nedia; two sons, Daniel of Auburn and David J. of Plano, Texas; a daughter, Sharon Smith of Auburn; his mother, Louise Weaver Adams of Auburn; three sisters, Jeannie Leone, Mary Lou Stanton and Nancy Prosser, all of Auburn; five grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Cheche Funeral Home. Burial was in Soule Cemetery.

Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 268 Clark St., Auburn.

Contributions were suggested to Hospice of the Fingerlakes, 25 William St., Auburn 13021.
