Mr. Buchanan was born in Pike County, Georgia on August 19. 1925. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Buchanan and Maybelle Storey Buchanan; step mother, Rhoeshelle Black Buchanan who raised him after the passing of his mother when he was 11 years old; his wife of 62 years Marjorie Lou Glass Buchanan, passed away July 2013. Mr. Buchanan was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II as an MP in Germany, France and England. He also had the honor of escorting the caskets of President Eisenhower and General Patton at their passing. He retired from City of Griffin Water Works Department after 33 years and 3 months. Mr. Buchanan was a faithful member of Teamon Baptist Church.
He loved his family, loved serving the Lord and always faithful to his family and God. Although he only had a 6th grade education he was a very smart man.
The family of Mr. Buchanan would like to express special thanks for all the love and caring support they received from Eternal Hope Hospice during Mr. Buchanan’s illness.
Visitation for Mr. Aaron Hewlett Buchanan will be on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Monday, August 15, 2016 from 10:30am until 11:30 am at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a graveside services will be conducted at noon at Brooks Memory Gardens. Pastor Hugh Smith will officiating
