"Obituaries. Joseph Jaeger

NAPA. Joseph Albert Jaeger passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 1999, at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.

He was born in San Francisco on April 17, 1912, to Peter and Sophie Jaeger. Joe and his family moved to Yountville in 1914. He attended local schools and graduated from Napa High School in 1930. After continuing his education at U. C. Davis, Joe went to work for the state Fish and Game Department in Yountville and worked for a few other community businesses for the balance of his career. An active member of the teamsters, he retired in 1974 from Ray Cavagnaro Inc.

Joe's hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing, cooking and gardening. He will be remembered for his great love of his family and the outdoors.

The third child of five, Joe was predeceased by his first wife, Marshalla Marie Niccolls; two brothers, Julius and Paul Jaeger; and two sisters, Sophie Gallagher and Louise Canning. Joe is currently survived by his wife, Emma Brunner Andrews Jaeger of Napa; two sons, Joe of Lafayette and Marshall of Napa; two stepsons, Philip Andrews of Fairfield and James Andrews of Napa; one stepdaughter, Marcia Andrews of Napa; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend the rosary and vigil service on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Claffey and Rota Funeral Home, 1975 Main St. The funeral service will also be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Michael Cleary will officiate. Entombment will be at Tulocay Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Queen of the Valley Home Health Care Services, 5 Financial Plaza, Napa, 94558, or to a charity of the donor's choice." END
