Sharon Simon-Rosen
It was a very foggy and chilly day on September 14, 2003, when Sharon Simon-Rosen passed away at approximately 1 p.m. in the home of her sister Cheryl (Simon) Priolo, in Shell Beach, California. Sharon was only 49 years of age and would have been a beautiful woman of 50 on February 12, 2004 if breast cancer had not taken her away so soon.
In 1968, Sharon came to live in California City with her Mom and sisters and attended Mojave High School and graduated in 1972. During those years, Sharon was a very active and involved student. She was always on the honor roll, the honor choir, banner girl for our winning marching band, acted in our school plays and during her senior year, was a cheerleader and elected by her peers as Homecoming Princess; she was also the runner-up Princess for the Miss California City pagent in 1971. After graduation, Sharon attended Bakersfield College, travelled extensively to many exotic places and finally settled in her birthplace in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sharon acquired very dear friends in SaltLake City, worked as a sales executive and occasionally as a bartender. In 1989, Sharon married and gave birth to twins, a boy and girl and loved being a mother. As life can be sometimes, she divorced and in the mid 1990s made another life change by moving to northern California to be close to her mother and sisters. Sharon met up with her college sweetheart; they married and made a home with their children in Alameda, California. Sharon lived her life quite fully, had many wonderful experiences, travelled to Paris and spent a month taking in the sights with life's ups and downs, and Sharon took on this final challenge with incredible bravery and dignity. That last week, Sharon's family and dear friends had all gathed around her, she was so very beautiful and perfect. Her Mom led us in a loving prayer and we held Sharon 's hand, we told her how much she is loved and thanked her for all her love. Sharon peacefully found her way into the loving arms of all our loved ones who went before us. It was very quiet she looked like a sleeping angel and within a few minutes after one o'clock the sun came out. Sharon will always be beautiful, will always be young and forever in our hearts and thoughts. Sharon is survived by her husband Dale Rosen of Alameda, California, her two beautiful children Madeline and Dominick Prospero, her mother June Kateley of Atwater, California, her sisters Cheryl (Simon) Priolo, Debbie (Simon) Qaid, both of San Luis Obispo, California, Barbara Simon, Utah. Sharon wished to be cremated and a lovely celebration of Sharon's life was held at Memory Grove in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 8, 2003.
