Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Ethel Herrera, 90, passed away peacefully at her home on August 13, 2016.

She was preceded in death by husband, Louis; infant daughter, Mary; special son, Michael; grandson, Denny; parents, John and Minnie Sisneros; brothers, Danny, Gilbert, Johnny, and Joe; and sister, Ruby Montoya. Survived by son, Dennis (Lila); daughter, Joyce Lay; son, Terry (Deanna); eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild, sisters, Beatrice Ornelas, Betty Ornelas, Jeanette Tanner, and Darlene Santillanes; and brothers, Jerry Sisneros, Larry Sisneros, and Bobby Rivenburg.

Ethel was born February 21, 1926 in Montrose, Colorado and married Louis Herrera on October 17, 1943.

She was an active member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Craft Ladies. Ethel and her husband were amongst the first residents of Kearns and first members of the parish. She worked and made things to sell at the church bazaar until she was eighty-eight.

Ethel loved to crochet and watch Lawrence Welk. She remained independent until her final days, loved all her family and friends and they loved her back. Ethel taught her children to respect and care for others.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 11:30 a.m., with a viewing prior at 10:30 a.m. All will take place at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 4501 West 5215 South.
Interment at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
