He was married first to Florence Hill, and the couple lived in Rochester, New York for many years. Robert moved to Nevada in 1942, and he married Ruth Irene Mayer in Carson City on October 2 of that year.
Robert spent his final years in Reno, where he worked as a machinist before his retirement. He was a member of Washoe Lodge No. 35, F&AM.
Survivors included his widow, Ruth of Reno; a son, Robert Adair of New York City; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
