David Nelson Newburn, 81, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 at his residence in Citronelle, Alabama.

He served our country in the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He was a retired welder and worked in the shipbuilding industry. He loved to travel, spend time with his family and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Lucedale, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his children, David Newburn, Jr. and Daniel Newburn.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Josephine Newburn; children, Frank Newburn, Kenneth Newburn, Ray Upchurch, Ceola Hicks, Sarah Newburn, Jossie Harrington and James Johnston; 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Douglas Newburn and Margie Stuckey; other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 10am until the 11am funeral service at Freeman Funeral Home with Sis. Wanda Johnston and Bro. Merrill Stacey officiating.
