Early Life: Raymond was born on December 15, 1942, in the deep south of Valdosta, Georgia. He would often share his adventures of growing up in the swampland which included chasing away house visitors ranging from moccasin snakes to alligators.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Raymond had a passion for life and found great joy in fishing, scouting, photography, church service and spending time with his family and friends. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Raymond served valiantly in many responsible church positions and dedicated his life to serving the Lord. In 1986, Raymond was awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, one of Scouting’s highest honors. His tireless kindness, patience, generosity and Christlike example will be missed, but not forgotten. While serving a mission for the Church in the Buffalo, New York area, he met his future eternal companion, Carol Lee Harward. Together they enjoyed 50 years of blissful marriage. Salesman, dog lover, world-class angler, friend, grandpa, dad and disciple of the Lord, Jesus Christ, Raymond Eugene Asbell wrote the final chapter to his storied 73-year life on Saturday, August 13, 2016, in Springville, Utah, with family and friends by his side.
Survived By: His wife, Carol; five sons: Scott (Ann) Asbell, Michael (Malinda) Asbell, Craig Asbell, Robbie (Tami) Asbell, Todd (Kristina) Asbell; one daughter: Shaunna (John) Leinweber; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Norman Asbell, Charles Asbell and Robert Asbell.
Preceded In Death By: His parents: Felix Camalah Asbell and Cois Lucille Dawkins Asbell; and his siblings: Vernon Asbell, Gwendolyn Asbell Whitman and infant sister, Lena Jo Asbell.
