Arthur E. Winter, age 90 of Trumbull, a retired typesetter for J.W. Shields, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at his home. Born in Bridgeport March 15, 1917, he was the son of the late Julius and Emma Yaps Winter and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Mr. Winter was a charter member at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and served as the chairman of the building committee. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Celtics. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Robina Tomlinson Winter. Survivors include a son, Glenn Winter and his wife, Sandra of Calgary, Canada; a daughter, Kathleen Froehlich and her husband, Charles of Dix Hills, N.Y.; a sister, Gertrude Hearn and her husband, Frank of Trumbull; four grandchildren, a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 4 p.m. in the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 5995 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull at 10 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
