Viola May's parents were Herbert Godbey (Godby on his death cert) and Mildred Dennie (Denney) who were married about 1909 when he was 21 and she was 14. Their first child, Nelsy, was a girl and just a week old when she died. Viola May was their second child, born a year later, and also an infant when she died, which must have been heartbreaking for this young couple. Note: The name on her death certificate is Letta May, but the headstone reads Viola May and other information matches. Even though her name is spelled Godby on her death certificate, I spelled it Godbey on this memorial since her father's headstone was spelled Godbey as was hers. The March 7th date on her headstone is the day of her burial and March 6th is the death date on the death certificate. Both infant babies share a headstone.
