Oil City Derrick, Saturday, Dec 18 1971:
Robert A. King, 51, of Maple Dale, Franklin RD 1, died at 11:30 om Thursday in Franklin Hospital following a three-month illness. He was born February 12, 1920 in Oil City, son of Thomas J. and Genevieve Strodmeyer King.

He was educated in the Oil City area schools, worked at the Oil City A & P from 1940 to 1942, entered the Air Force July 31, 1942, served as an airplane and engineer mechanic and was honorably discharged as sergeant in 1946 in Indiantown Gap, then worked for A&P about 30 more years. He was a member and past trustee and deacon of Congress Hill Church of God, and devoted considerable time to gardening.

He married Lois V. Johnson January 11, 1948, and she survives, with daughter Kathryn A., son David Lee King, both at home; brother Thomas King of Oil City; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Giehl of Oil City, and Mrs. Ivan (Genevieve) Carowther of Titusville. A son, Robert A. King, Jr., died in 1956; a brother, Frances E. King and a sister, Katherine May are also deceased.

Services will be at the Leverne L. Burger Funeral Home with Rev. David Stickley, pastor of Congress Hill Church of God, officiating, assisted by Rev. Leland Barnes of Zelienople. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
