Willis and Effie married 5 May 1899 in Secor, Woodford, Illinois. She was 16 and he was 19. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary on 5 May 1949, just a few weeks prior to his death.

Some of the children's obituaries appear to indicate 12 children (8 sons and 4 daughters), but I have only been able to identify 11 children (7 sons and 4 daughters).
