LTC Eugene Edward Gómez, passed away on August 17, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM.
Gene was born and raised in Silver City NM.
Gene was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, served 26 years as a New Mexico Guardsman where he Commanded National Guard Units in Lordsburg, NM, Deming, NM and Las Cruces, NM. Gene held administrative positions with the 2nd Battalion, command and control headquarters and the 111th Air Defense Brigade Headquarters.
After retirement from the United States Armed Forces, Gene went on to work as a Construction Manager and Auditor for the New Mexico Highway Department District 111 Office.
Gene was also a member of the American Legion Post 49. Gene earned BA and MA Degrees from Western New Mexico University and was an active board member of the WNMU Alumni Association Albuquerque Chapter.
Gene was also a member of Legacy Church where he was involved in the Lift Senior Ministry.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, José and Mary Frances Gómez, brother, Richard Gómez and grandson, Zackary.
Gene is survived by his wife, Priscilla Gómez and family of Albuquerque, NM, son, Kenneth Gómez and his wife, Mary, grandchildren, Tammy and Darel Gómez, great-grandchildren, Robert, Bonnie, Hanna, Nathaniel and Levi of T or C, NM, uncle, Arthur Pascoe, sister, Frances and her husband, Danny Vásquez of Silver City, NM, brother, Walter and Gail Gómez from Las Cruces, NM and numerous step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and two dogs, Bambi and Baby T.
Celebration of life ceremony will be conducted at Legacy Church East Campus, 4701 Wyoming Blvd., Albuquerque, NM on August 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Enichement of cremated remains will follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM at 1:30 p.m., with full military honors.
Flowers are welcome, however we ask that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association LTC Eugene Edward Gómez Memorial.
