Robert E. Brey, age 92, who resided with his daughter and son-in-law: Cindy and Ron Torstenson and most recently at Laurel Grove, Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon, August 19, 2016 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Robert was born on April 27, 1924 in Racine, WI, son of the late William and Rose (Kleiber) Brey. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1942. Robert served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. On April 23, 1949 he married the former Martha Mailand at St. Paul Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2013. Robert was a postal worker for 27 years until his retirement in 1986. He was also a past member of the Holy Name Society at St. Paul Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Robert W. And Therese Brey, Steven and Ruth Brey, Tom and Sherri Brey, all of Manitowoc; two daughters and one son-in-law: Cindy and Ron Torstenson, Manitowoc, Kristine Brey, Grand Junction, Colorado; two grandsons: Matthew Brey, Gregory (Amanda) Brey; two granddaughters: Alexandria Brey and Victoria Brey; one granddaughter-in-law: Olivia Brey; four great grandsons: Hayden, Trevor, Nathan and Adam Brey; two step-granddaughters: Jodi (Pat) McCarty and Jamie Valley; two step-great grandchildren: Nicholas McCarty and Kaitlyn Valley; one brother-in-law: Ray Shavlik, Two Rivers; and one sister-in-law: Marion Mailand, Sturgeon Bay. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by one grandson: Christopher Brey; one brother and sister-in-law: William and Helen Brey; two sisters: Betty Shavlik and Jeanette Brey; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ray Mailand, Marie and Robert Fessler, Joe Mailand, Frank Mailand and Ida Wetenkamp.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, August 24, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Ave), Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Pleier with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
