In the 1930 Federal Census he was 48 years old and listed as the Head of Household with Minnie Andrews Day as his spouse and a daughter named Dorothy. They lived at 1211 Highland Ave., Montgomery AL. He was employed as a boiler maker at Hartley Boiler Works. Another member of his household was his mother-in-law E. C. Andrews who was widowed in 1915.

There is a mystery here. Someone was kind enough to clean off Daniel Day's headstone and it clearly shows him deceased in 1958. That would have made him 76. In 1949 and again in 1952 I visited them with my mother. I will have to wait for another two years for the 1940 census to be released to delve deeper into this mystery as my generation is quickly fading also.
