DOROTHY DORN, age 83, of Luverne, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

A time of fellowship will be Thursday, September 1, from 5-8 pm, with an Eastern Star Service at 7 pm, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. Memorial service will be 10:30 am Friday, September 2, at the United Methodist Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Dorthea Hall. Burial of cremains will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Rock County Food Shelf ~ Luverne, MN.

DOROTHY DORN, age 83, of Luverne, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born to Howard C. and Minna M. (Jessen) Frank on September 13, 1932 in Luverne, MN. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1950, and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing Cum Laude from Hamline University in 1954. On June 12, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Dorn. After several years in the Twin Cities, the couple returned to Luverne, where they lived in her childhood home for the remainder of 60 years of marriage.

A lifelong member of Luverne's Methodist Church, Dorothy was active in many aspects of the church and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and International P.E.O. Sisterhood, and the Rock-Nobles Health Board. She has administered the Rock County Food Shelf for over 30 years. Dorothy died in hospice care at Sanford USD Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, on August 23, 2016, following a month's illness and surgery. She was 83 years of age.

Dorothy is survived by her older sister, Kathleen Gibbs and brother-in-law Allen Gibbs of Rapid City, SD; her son Mike Dorn with daughter-in-law Marianne Hageman and granddaughter Eleanor M.H. Dorn of Little Canada; daughter Marilee Dorn with grandsons Mitchel and Milyn Markkanen of Spicer; and daughter Marcia Dorn with son-in-law Les Honfi of Cody, WY. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Mary (1956) and Melissa (1958), by her parents, and by her beloved husband Robert in 2014.
