Charles Philip Frick was born in Abington township, Mercer county, Illinois, November 18, 1842, and died at his home in Seaton, April 12, 1913.

He was the youngest child of Frederick and Nancy Wilson Frick. His parents, one brother and five sisters preceded him in death, George A. Frick, Mrs. Sarah E. Lowe, Mrs. Harriet Noble, Mrs. Mary Willits, Mrs. Rebecca Cabeen, and Mrs. Lucy Blackburn. One brother, William W. Frick, of Keithsburg, is the only surviving member of the family.

February 23, 1871, he was united in marriage to Miss Elmarene Gray. To this union three children were born, Retta Frick Duncan, wife of C. E. Duncan, Clarence M., who died at the age of six years, and Roy G. Frick, of Aledo. He also leaves seven grandchildren. Violet, Ralph, Elmarene, Gordon and Robert Duncan, and Maude and Alfaretta Frick.

May 7, 1843, he was baptized in the Pope River Presbyterian church by Rev. John Montgomery and in 1889 under the pastorate of Rev. J. P. Detherige, he was received into membership of Center Presbyterian church.

He suffered a stroke of paralysis, May 16, 1908. This was followed by several others, the last occuring Saturday morning, April 5th.

Mr. Frick spent all his life in Abington and Ohio Grove Townships, Mercer county, and has resided in Seaton since December, 1891. He valued his friends and appreciated their many to him during his failing health.

He was a devoted husband and father and his family was his greatest pleasure. He will be missed by many but especially by his faithful wife, who has been his constant companion and comfort through his years of affliction.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. G. Hanna, from the Seaton Presbyterian church, Monday morning at 10 o'clock and interment was made in the Keithsburg cemetery.
