Born 8 Sept 1835 in Pennsylvania son of Daniel Gaumer and Elizabeth Korns. Died 22 Dec. 1868 in Iowa Co., Iowa. Probably came to Iowa with his uncle Samuel Gaumer Samuel and his family are buried close by. He married Sarah A. Carroll on 1 Apr 1866. Alongside George's monument is one for George G. Gaumer who died 2 Jan 1892 aged 22 years 11 months and 30 days. This is his son who was born less than a month after his father's death. George's wife's parents were W.J. and Jane Carroll. Sarah remarried in 1871 but evidently was unable to take her sons in the new marriage since guardianship papers for sons George G. and William Norman were processed in 1871 and again in 1878. Her sons did show in 1885 as part of her new family.
