MARION JEPSON BLOOD LAWRENCE
Marion Jepson Blood Lawrence, 77, of the Lane Stamford and Bradenton, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1986 at the Suncoast Nursing Home in Bradenton. Mrs. Lawrence was born on July 4, 1906, in Stamford the daughter of the late Harry M. and Florence Jepson Blood of Stamford. Mrs. Lawrence was raised in Stamford on the old Blood farm which is now the Stamford Golf Course. She graduated from North Adams Normal School in 1928. In 1965 she earned her bachelor's degree from the state college at North Adams. During her college years she served as editor of the poetry publication at the college and since that time had published six books, topics of which include poetry, genealogy and history. In 1983, Mrs. Lawrence received the distinguished Alumni Award at North Adams State College. In addition to her writing achievements she was a teacher for 29 years retiring from the profession in 1971 and spent 17 of her teaching years at area schools. Mrs. Lawrence had worked as a correspondent for the North Adams Transcript and the Bennington Banner. She served as district represenative to the Vermont State Legislative from 1951-1953. She was a member of the Stamford Community Church, the Naomi Chapter of Eastern Star, the poetry and Folklare Sociaties of Vermont a former member of the Vermont writers League, historian with the Fort Mass. Chapter of the D.A.R., and honorary trustee of the community Library in Stamford. Surviving are her husband Leroy Lawrence, whom she married on Dec. 31, 1928, three daughters, Mrs. David (Ellison) Finney, Mrs. Wallace (Linda) Noyes, Mrs. Priscilla Mullett and a son Stanley Lawrence all of Stanford. Also, surviving are three brothers, Ralph Blood of Portland, Maine and Howard Blood of Port Orange, Fla., a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Christine) Rice of Brattleboro, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A service of remembrance for Mrs. Lawrence will be held Feb. 23 at 2:30 p.m. The Stamford Community Church. Friends are requested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Stamford Community Church Ramp Access Fund. Stamford 05352. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family. The Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington is handling the arrangements.
