Bruton, Jon 71, remembered as one of the great creative artists in St. Louis, passed away peacefully in his Santa Barbara home on May 29, 2016. At the time of his death Jon was surrounded by his loved ones, including his beloved wife, Judy; adored son and daughter-in-law, Lucas and Michelle; his dear nephew and nieces; his faithful dogs, Taji and Oso. Jon is also survived by his siblings; sister-and brother-in-law; mother-in-law; cousins; and treasured friends. Jon's remarkable eye and visual genius developed early in his studies at Washington University of St. Louis. His aesthetic vision was evident everywhere in his personal and professional life, notably in his brilliantly landscaped gardens and in his work as a professional photographer who took his work to new imaginative and technical heights. Colleagues remember him as a generous and brilliant man who changed lives as he raised the level of photography and took everyone else with him. In 1978, Jon launched the business that eventually morphed into Bruton Stroube Studios, which today remains one of the top commercial photography studios in the country. Jon met his wife, Judy, in 1983. Married in 1987, they raised their son, Lucas, in St. Louis before moving to Santa Barbara in 2009. Services: will be private. A celebration of life ceremony will be held in St. Louis on July 30, 2016 for Jon's friends and family to gather and commemorate his extraordinary life.
